Justin Willman is a magician, comedian and actor. Season two of Justin's very popular Netflix show “Magic For Humans” has just been released, with season three already slated to release in 2020. This is good news for fans of Justin’s unique approach to street magic and comedy. I’m not gassing up “Magic For Humans" one bit…it’s a fantastic show and you should check it out.
I first met Justin Willman in 2012 when he came to Grand Rapids to perform for the Laughfest Comedy Festival and I was the festival photographer. We had a very quick and easy photo shoot. We both really liked the results. Justin came back to Laughfest again in 2015. We shot more portraits and we liked them even more. In 2018, I was in Los Angeles for a few days and invited Justin to shoot with me in downtown Los Angeles. Justin has a fantastic way of raising the bar each time we get together and it’s so fun to shoot with him.
This conversation takes place in Justin’s backyard in Studio City, California. We talk about his creative approach to “Magic For Humans,” our shared battle against Type 1 Diabetes and the mystique of The Magic Castle plus so much more.
